Cherbourg, France
“I have returned to a place I’ve never been”
Led by a familiar soul
who knew where the fish like to go.
down an overgrown road,
beyond the beaten path,
to the edge of a cliff-
We waited.
At first there was one,
rising from the east
Then..
There were more..
Was I truly witnessing the Great Migration?
I’ve never been so close.
They danced in circles around me.
The wind rushing through my hair.
So powerful, I was nearly swept from my feet
They dove over the cliff and disappeared into the horizon
Just like that,
they were gone.
I looked to my friend, smiling in the direction they went.
This is what it means to be content.
The Traveler carried on,
chasing trains and planes and boats,
drawing maps and collecting notes.
“The right place at the right time can be tricky to find”
