Rome, Italy

“Suspicious Fish are rarely seen near man-made things.”

However, it is not impossible.

This one was different. Energetic, unpredictable, almost playful.

Restless at best,

I stood still, holding my breath,

afraid of it stopping if it knew I was watching.

It dove in the grass, like a game of pretend

and danced through the arches

like a waltz with the wind.

Suddenly it stopped.

Hovering over an old house on a hill.

The birds went quiet and the wind stood still.

What I thought was a waltz,

now feels like a frantic search for something lost.

I didn’t know what it was doing, but I knew I had proof.
